St Rocco's Hospice
Mental wellbeing
We wish to expand our volunteer befriending service so more people in our community can access support. Following the pandemic, we have seen an increase in demand due to loneliness and isolation.
About this cause
We provide quality care and promote social, psychological and spiritual wellbeing for patients with life-limiting illness, as well as catering for their physical needs. We also offer support and care to our patients’ loved ones; they sometimes need more emotional support than the patients themselves. In doing so, we place patients, carers and families at the heart of everything that we do.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By expanding our community initiative we can further address the key impact area of mental wellbeing for both volunteers and service users; meaning we can have a bigger impact on community wellbeing. Volunteers will increase their skills and confidence whilst helping to reduce the loneliness and social isolation of our vulnerable residents. This co-operation reduces anxiety and depression.
